how to participate effectively in web forums Posted on July 2nd

i found some great tips on participating on web forums here. i think more bloggers will be leveraging the visibility that comes with effective forum participation thanks to these tips.

my particular favorite tips are:

#3. notice what the ‘norm’s are regarding signatures in your posts and follow them. they can be effective but they can also put you on blacklists if you over do the signature when the norm is not to have them.

#6 post an introductory message to get yourself on the radar. too many people just start posting and readers have no context or connection with the poster. this avoids that.

#7 bookmark the forum to come back regularly. this is too easy to do and prevents the forum from being just a one time hit and run affair.

Finally got some new plant pix up! Fortunately before T-Mobile lost everything in my online edit album, which had 216 pix over a two year period. Sigh.
  • That sucks! I use flickr as my back up for photo storage.
  • I don't think I have ever participated in a web forum but I believe those are all good tips for any bloggy thing. I always get the best info and resource connections right here, Sean. Thank you.

To manage your web forum links you can use a bookmark manager that will store your logins and automatically check if the forum links are not dead.
