Is target shady? It appears the answer is YES! Posted on August 28th

Target (Australia)

I wrote this post back in July but didn’t publish it because I thought, maybe it’s just a simple mistake and Target isn’t being shady.  After reading this article [at the excellent consumerist.com website] about Target arbitrarily rejecting coupons that consumers earn by opening Target credit cards, I decided to publish my experience.

As Mike Brady says, ‘caveat emptor‘, especially when shopping at Target!

So i decided to do some shopping at Target. for those not in the states, target is a discounter of sorts that competes with Walmart and other stores.

I was in the food section and saw that coke products were 4 for 11$.  I grabbed a bunch as it is summer time and continued on.

When i go to the register, I just happened to look up and see I’d been charged 4.99 per 12 pack! when i explained to the cashier that they were on sale, she said no Pepsi was on sale for that price.

So i walked over to where i got the soda and the pepsi was marked at 4.99 each.

They obviously mislabeled the sodas and swapped prices. the worrying part was that i told 2 store employees about this issue at the store, and neither seemed the least bit concerned!  They pretended like they didn’t hear me!

It makes me wonder they are hoping folks grab the wrong item and overlook the pricing. I don’t usually watch the register, what with kids usually with me, but I will certainly be watching the register more carefully.

Do you watch your cash registers closely when being rung up? ever catch any major pricing snafus?
