Sad but not surprising - Capitalism Kills Posted on September 25th
I’m not a socialist but I guess you could say I’m a guilty capitalist. Having grown up around Manhattan and LA, I became keenly aware of the great divide between the haves and the have nots.
I am not sure exactly when my eyes were opened to the inherent injustice between people who have much more than they need and those who are unable to supply the basics for themselves and their families.
To be honest, when I’m feeling a little bit sorry myself and wanting a bigger house, a newer car etc. I just turn on the TV and watch for a while. Invariably, there will be a glimpse into the lives of the wealthy and all of the associated pressures and vapidity. Talk about a tonic to cure what ails you. After watching, I feel better and am grateful for what I have and refocus on the value of simplicity and modesty. Less really is more.
All that to say that reading the below makes me feel a combination of things. A big part of what I’m feeling is the sense that maybe in some small way the CEO brought this upon himself? I cannot imagine this happening to a CEO who showed compassion for his workers and didn’t wield his status like a weapon. I guess it’s wrong to think this way but I cannot reconcile this any other way.

CEO murdered by mob of sacked Indian workers
timesonline.co.uk —
Corporate India is in shock after a mob of workers bludgeoned to death the chief executive who sacked them from a factory in a suburb of Delhi.
Lalit Kishore Choudhary, 47, the head of the Indian operations of Graziano Transmissioni, a manufacturer of car parts that has its headquarters in Italy, died of severe head wounds on Monday after being attacked by scores of laid-off employees, police said. The incident, in Greater Noida, followed a long-running dispute between the factory’s management and workers demanding better pay and permanent contracts.
