nig splashpic2 Tuesday June 4, 2002

do you know this woman? if you don’t you should. her name is nigella.
nigella lawson. she’s the it woman of the food world right now, the star of a great cooking show called ‘nigella bites’. she’s written some successful books on simple cooking for busy people. now before your eyes glaze over at the thought of another snobby uptight food queen telling you how to cook and everything you’re doing wrong (martha stewart, HELLO!) think about this:

Yeah, nigella is glamorous, articulate, british, beautiful, sexy, and amazingly adept nig9 lrg Tuesday June 4, 2002at cooking beautiful dishes (my god! am i straight!?)….but she counterbalances the equation with equal parts of simplicity, informality and a wonderfully sexy sense of humor. for example, while using tongs to grab something delicious out of a dish, she says
‘i just love some tong action..’

she is unapologetic about her lust for food. she tastes food while its cooking with her fingers, she has a few extra pounds on her, she’s got kids, she’s got a career. she is a domestic goddess and she’s not going to succumb to formality for formality’s sake. ingredients are often just eyeballed without measurement, substitutions are encouraged.

nigella…catch her on e! and style tv. a british import that will make you want to try some new dishes as you marvel at how she pulls it off.

can cooking well really be so fun and easy?

  • I know her now!

The English can cook? Why does their food have such a terrible rep, then??

  • I am learning to prepare macrobiotic foods. I am having a blast learning and putting everything I have into what I am doing.

    Steve
  • she is a culinary goddess

not hard on the eyes either :)

  • Know her. Love her. If she and Anthony Bourdain every got together.....our collective culinary consciousness would implode....I'm quite sure.
  • my wife cooks that way...

I'll have to find her show, so that when my wife watches "the naked chef" (another brit show, i think) we can each have eye candy with our food!

    oomp

  • Hay Sean Thanks I'm on xanga now , I don't now what phillip going to say. It was good talking to you

  • She's a turn on for me when I watch her cook. Did you know that her father was Nigel Lawson - once Conservative Chancellor of the Exchequer during the Prime Ministership of Margaret Thatcher, back in the 1980s? We really do have loads of Chefs over here in the UK now - my favourite one is Rick Stein (his speciality is fish cookery - watch out for his programme 'Rick Stein's Taste of the Sea' if you ever get the chance to watch it)
  • I love her show. She is so cool and sexy. What a woman!!!
  • I can't turn away from her show. She's just so hot! Hot woman + cooking skills = Instant love
  • I've never seen her!
  • omigodo - she almost makes me want to get cable!
  • I haven't ever seen the show - I'll have to look for it!

    Have a great day!

  • Ive seen her... she is great! But I think your mistaken when you say she has a few extra lbs on her... that just isnt true. If that is a few extra lbs I'd be happy to have em!
  • well...my comment apparently went someplace into the ozone to do damage there. Let's try this again, shall we?...

First of all...LMAO at "my god! am i straight!?"
Second...I love cooking shows and will watch for her. However, I prefer a good whisking to a tonging any day.

    Bon Appetit!

  • It is when I cook ;-)
  • Cant say I know her. Whats cooking anyways :-P
  • She's luscious !
  • cooking? well i don't know how to cook but it could be learn! isn't it? :-D
  • Naughty British cooking? Hmmm.
  • She bites but doesn't suck, eh? Well, I guess I could live with that and a delicious dish :-D
  • Great review!
  • I've never seen it, but I can see why she'd appeal to people..
  • cool stuff...how goes life of the far side of the country? just stopped by to shout hi...

    Peace...PJ

  • well, julia child she is not! isnt she too skinny to be doing a cooking show? i am not sure i trust some one that skinny doing a cooking show.
  • Never seen, but maybe I should. :-)
  • "...am I straight?" LOL.

It's been almost 1000 years since the Magna Carta, and finally a Briton who does more in the kitchen than take an organ or gland and bake it into a pie.

Just kidding, although I've got a running joke with a Brit co-worker over the existence of "ball pie"...

  • She is a total domestic goddess... :-)
  • i like her show...she reminds me of some movie Penelope Cruz was in and she played a television chef..dang i cant think of that movies title
  • Nigella is a friend of a friend of mine.
*Pause here to allow you guys to dribble*

He says that what you see of her on TV is extremely close to how she is in real life.

Go and buy her books (my favourite is "How to be a Domestic Goddess") - the results are truly impressive. But do avoid if you're watching your waistline!
