Rob and I spent our Easter weekend doing lots of work in the yard in preparation for the shed that we'll be putting in. As we spent all day out in the yard, we spent our evenings watching some movies.First, we saw
Bill Maher's
ReligulousWhat an intelligent and humorous look at just how twisted people get in justifying their religous beliefs. It was a very thought provoking film that illustrates that how so much of what is wrong in the world is the direct result of people checking their logic and reason at the door when putting forth their beliefs.
Another movie we caught was
Nick and Norah's Infinite PlaylistWhat a fun jaunt through the teenagers playground that is NYC at night. The story follows the adventures of a young musician in a
queercore band. He's the only straight member of the band, his girlfriend just broke up with him and to add insult to injury he has a self-described
Ellen Degeneres haircut. Nonetheless, he's an adorable and intelligent young man who plays a mean bass guitar. He and his band travel around NYC trying to stay out of trouble and the adventures they get into are hilarious. This movie took me back to my days of sneaking into Manhattan with mom's car to take my friends to
Danceteria or the other hot spots of the late '80s. The simultaneous fun and drama that only kids at this age can get into is fun to watch. So we lucked out in that we enjoyed 2 out of 2 movies and heartily recommend both. Enjoy!
